Learning outcomes Know how to apply techniques, materials, and tools in the development and testing of parts in mockups and prototyping.

Understand how formal expression, usability, and structure are hierarchized and reconciled in a design piece through its development in mockups and finalization in prototypes.

Understand the underlying issues, in mockup development, of an object's design in relation to its formal and symbolic expression.

Know how to explore and apply different materials in relation to their potential and structural constraints in mockup development and finalization in prototypes.

Know how to apply ergonomic dimensions in developing the usability of a design piece.
Syllabus Techniques, materials, and tools for developing and testing model parts.

Analysis of parts by leading authors through reading, observation, and drawing, focusing on formal expression, usability, and structure for experimentation and development in models at different scales and prototypes.

Understanding materials regarding their expressive plastic capabilities, with application in models at different scales and prototypes.

Exploring the potential and structural constraints of different materials (such as wood, steel, polymers, and composites) to be tested in models and prototypes.

Application and experimentation of ergonomic measures to explore the usability of different parts in models and prototypes.
Teaching Methodologies and Assessment Criteria The evaluation will take into account the conceptual and technical quality of the pieces, as well as the student's continued in-person participation. The following will be decisive factors in the evaluation: the construction quality and finish of the pieces (models and prototypes); structural solutions related to the materials used; usability of the pieces in proper application and ergonomic dimension testing; creativity and conceptual originality.
