Learning outcomes The general goal of this curricular unit is to reach the CEFR level C1.1/C1.2, taking into account two aspects: the specificity of SFL teaching-learning for/by
Lusophones (close languages); the training not only of competent SFL users, but also of future SFL teachers in Portugal, translators, etc. See the Portuguese
version for further details (specific goals and intended learning outcomes).
Syllabus 1. Functional: narrate, describe, argue, compare; express causes/consequences/purpose/various degrees of probability; formulate hypotheses.
2. Pragmatic-discursive: textual connectors and discursive markers; pragmatic relationships.
3. Sociocultural: aspects of Spanish contemporary society; cultural manifestations in Spanish-speaking spaces; figures and facts of sociocultural relevance in
the Spanish-speaking world.
4. Grammatical: syntax (comparative, causal, consecutive, concessive, final and conditional clauses); consecutive temporum; solutions for the personal
infinitive (nonexistent in Spanish) and the future subjunctive (disused in Spanish).
5. Lexicals: lexicon suited to the specific needs/communicative abilities of the level and the proposed notio-functional contents, phraseology and collocations,
lexicon of the colloquial or informal register, divergent/problematic units for Portuguese speakers (false friends, bilingual doublets, etc.).
Teaching Methodologies and Assessment Criteria Teaching methodologies --> In the theoretical-practical classes, varied activities appropriate to the level will be proposed, covering all basic linguistic skills (understanding, production, interaction, mediation). Student’ assessment --> 2 written tests 25% each > 50% 2 oral exams 15% each > 30% 2 essays 5% each > 10% 2 oral exams on readings from books 5% each > 10%
