Learning outcomes |
Preparation of an original scientific dissertation with application of Geographic Information Systems sciences.
Give to students the capacity for initiative, autonomy in research and on the application of knowledge gained,
decision and work organization. At the end of the course the student should be able to:
(a) Apply the knowledge gained to understand, evaluate, make educated decisions and solve problems in new and
unfamiliar situations, in extended and multidisciplinary contexts.
(b) Deal with complex issues, develop solutions or judgment in situations of limited or incomplete information.
(c) Communicate, allowing the transmission of information, ideas, problems, solutions and conclusions to
audiences consisting of specialists and non-specialists, in a clear and objective way.
(d) Take responsibility for learning throughout life, as a self-directed or autonomous.

Syllabus |
The thesis advisors coordinate the different development stages of the work, supervising the following contents:
a) Bibliographic review and analysis of the state of the art.
b) Elaboration and discussion of the detailed work plan, describing the methodology and the planning of work.
c) Implementation of the work plan approved by the thesis advisor, with periodic discussion of progress of the
work.
d) Writing and discussion of the final document.

Teaching Methodologies and Assessment Criteria |
The assessment of the Dissertation in Geographic Information Systems Curricular Unit is done according to the evaluation criteria of dissertation approved by the scientific committee of the 2nd Cycle of Studies in Geographic Information Systems on October 23, 2017 and approved by the Vice-rectory for teaching on October 30, 2017.
