Learning outcomes To enable the understanding of the interaction between political (states and power) and economic (markets and wealth) processes at international and global levels;
To introduce concepts, theories, analytical methods and critical perspectives that frame the approaches of International Political Economy;
Provide tools to analyse international economic flows, structures and institutions, as well as current policies, in historical, comparative and critical perspectives;
Examine regional economic blocs, state-market-society relations and relevant issues of globalisation;
Analyze how international and global economic integration shapes the decision-making of stakeholders;
Discuss how political interests, institutions and ideas influence global and country policies and economic performance.

Teaching Methodologies and Assessment Criteria The module is organised on lectures and discussion-based sessions.. The lectures combine a structured transmission of knowledge and analytical IPE perspectives with empirical evidence, practical questions and case studies. The discussion-based classes aim to stimulate students’ capacity to problematise and produce well-informed arguments grounded on lecture contents, article journals, reports, video-conferences and data gathered from international organisations, experts’ writings in newspapers and think-tank perspectives.
