Learning outcomes In this Curricular Unit it is expected that students learn to distinguish the main theories of motivation and emotion, as well as the main assessment methods and intervention principles. Thus, at the end of UC the student must be able to:
- Demonstrate understanding of the principal theories of motivation and emotion;
- Describe the main motivational and emotional variables;
- Develop an understanding of the interplay between motivation and emotion;
- Identify the main functions of emotions;
- Identify psychological intervention modalities focusing on cognitive-motivational and emotional processes;
- Search and manage scientific information;
- Produce and structure written scientific documents;
- Demonstrate teamwork skills;
- Communicate information and scientific knowledge.
Syllabus 1. Motivation: 1.1. Main epistemological questions and definitions; 1.2. Theories of motivation: Historical and contemporary theories; 1.3. Motivational principles and relevant contexts.
2. Emotions: 2.1. Motivation and emotion; 2.2. The main functions of emotions. 3. 3. Cognitive-motivational and emotional processes in psychological intervention.
