Learning outcomes At the end of this curricular unit the student should be able to:
- Analyze and interpret the harmful and beneficial influences of electromagnetic fields and waves on the human body
- Describe the phenomena inherent to the electromagnetic field
- List and discern the types of equipment used in electromedicine
- Describe and enumerate the mechanisms and effects of electromagnetic radiation in biophysical systems
- Interpret and compare the international rules and lines of action to protect against the harmful effects of exposure to electromagnetic radiation
- Integrate multidisciplinary teams with medical doctors and engineers
- Promote and develop studies, individually and as a team
Syllabus 1. Fundamental concepts in electromagnetism.
2. Electromagnetic interactions with biological systems and health risks.
3. Biological effects of electric and magnetic fields.
4. Radiofrequency and dosimetry patterns.
5. Electromagnetic risk analysis.
6. Electromagnetic Energy Therapeutic Applications.
