A call is open for the allocation of 1 (one) research fellowship for PhD students or MSc degree holder enrolled in a non-academic degree course (BI), within the R&D Project BioDAgro – Sistema operacional inteligente de informação e suporte à decisão em AgroBiodiversidade, project PD20-00011, promoted by Fundação La Caixa and Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia, taking place at the C-MAST - Centre for Mechanical and Aerospace Sciences and Technology, Department of Electromechanical Engineering of the University of Beira Interior, Covilhã, Portugal.

Objectives
Research on Information and Communications Technologies. The researcher will be point of contact between project parties and it will be in charge of the technological development of the project and devoted to the integration of all technologies involved, namely: (1) Development of agrobiodiversity monitoring technology, starting with an update of the state of the art study in local monitoring systems; defining the architecture of the local monitoring system; defining the field and experimental tests; Construction and assembly of the sensor network; Assembly and integration of communication modules for data transfer; Integration and testing of prototypes in a test environment. (2) Development of a web platform for information, alerts and decision support, supported by: Update of the state of the art of data analysis algorithms to be applied in the context of AgroBiodiversity; Definition of the minimum functional and usability requirements of the web platform; Development of the information visualization and decision support web platform; Implementation and integration of the module on the web platform; Integration of the web platform with prototypes for monitoring and experimentation in a test environment. (3) Experimental tests and validation of prototypes in a real environment, composed by installation and management of experimental tests; Field tests of technologies for monitoring and ICT and integration with the platform in an experimental environment; System tuning. (4) The expected outcome of the research work requires at least 5 scientific publications (3 in international conference and 2 in peer review international journals) during the grant period.
Requirements for admission and hiring
- Hold a Master degree in Aeronautical Engineering, Electromechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering and meet the conditions to be enrolled in a cycle of studies leading to a doctorate degree (PhD) degree in Aeronautical/Aerospace Engineering, or Industrial Engineering and Management, or Mechanical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering, or a MSc degree holder enrolled in a non-academic degree course;
- Knowledge of ICT, microcontrollers, space systems, Python, Java, web platform development are preferable factors.
The proof of registration in a cycle of studies leading to the PhD degree or proof of registration in a non-academic degree course is required for the fellowship contract.
The BI awarded to masters who are enrolled in courses that do not lead to an academic degree can only be granted for a maximum period of one year.
The BI awarded to masters who are enrolled in courses that do not confer an academic degree can only be awarded to those who do not exceed, with the execution of the scholarship contract in question, including possible renewals, a cumulative period of two years in this type of research fellowship, followed or interpolated.
