Learning outcomes Understand chemical reactivity and interaction forces between particles at the molecular level
Establish a reaction mechanism from experimental data
Understand the phenomena of diffusion through interfaces
Know the concepts and theoretical principles that allow a quantitative analysis in the context of chemical kinetics and dynamics.

Syllabus Kinetic theory of gases: Probability density of molecular velocity; Distribution of speeds; Free average route; Collisions between molecules and surfaces; Molecular interactions in collisions
Transport properties and transport phenomena in gases
Chemical Kinetics: Equation of Velocity; Reaction order; Elementary step and reaction mechanism; Arrhenius equation; Steady-state approach method; Relationship between the velocity constants and the equilibrium constant; Unimolecular, parallel, consecutive and chain reactions; Acid and basic catalysis; Enzymatic reactions – Michaelis-Menten
Transport properties: viscosity; diffusional phenomena; Fick's laws
Chemical dynamics: collision theory; activation energy; activated complex theory; potential energy surfaces
Surface processes: Growth of solid surfaces; Physical and chemical adsorption; Surface catalytic activity
Basic principles of electrochemical dynamics
Teaching Methodologies and Assessment Criteria The transmission of program contents is fundamentally of an expository nature. However, it is intended that there will be room for asking questions, leading to group dialogue. In this UC, theoretical-practical classes are used to apply the taught syllabus, with questions/problems being resolved in groups or individually.
The laboratory part includes the completion of 3 laboratory assignments, presentation and discussion of reports.
The assessment has a theoretical component (75%) and a practical component (25%).
Theoretical assessment consists of individual written tests (2 tests or 1 exam, students may attend both assessment moments).
The minimum grade in each of the components is 10 values.
