Learning outcomes - In depth the knowledge about the welfare state model, its characteristics and recent changes;
- Contribute to a better understanding of the welfare state and social policies in Portugal and in Europe in comparative perspective;

- At the end of CU students should be able to:
- Understand the main features and changes in the welfare state and in the social policies;
- Interpret the strengths and limitations of social policies in their intervention and organizational practices;
- Recognize the role of social policies in different policy areas (health, public housing, education or social security);
- Promote entrepreneurial strategies that enable and/or compensate the role of the social policies.
