Learning outcomes It is intended that during the semester the students deepen a set of historical-artistic notions and concepts associated with the evolution of symbolic thought manifest in Art, and develop the necessary skills to relate their influence as a cultural and imaginary phenomenon.
At the end of the semester the student should be able to:
• Observe and critically analyze works of art from its earliest days;
• Associate artists and works with corresponding artistic styles and movements;
• Identify and associate historical events as a motive of artistic movements;
• Develop research group work in accordance with established parameters;
• Identify influences of artistic movements throughout the History of Art and Image.
Syllabus Before writing: The Paleolithic and the development of symbolic thought; Rock art; Dawns of western civilization: from Göbekli Tepe to Avebury; The Ancient Age; Preclassical civilizations; Classical Antiquity - Greece; Classical Antiquity - Rome; The end of the Ancient Age; The High Middle Ages; The Low Middle Ages; The Renaissance; The Baroque; From the isms to the 20th century vanguards: Brief contextualization.
