Learning outcomes Providing in-depth knowledge of modern manufacturing technologies such as digital subtractive and additive manufacturing, aiming to generate efficient products and offering scalable manufacturing processes
Syllabus -Overview of subtractive digital manufacturing. -CAD/CAM and CNC manufacturing concepts. -Overview of additive digital manufacturing. -3D printing of polymers, ceramics and metals. -Overview of Factories of the Future (FoF). -Applications of advanced manufacturing techniques.
Teaching Methodologies and Assessment Criteria Explanation of subtractive and additive digital manufacturing concepts by the teacher, followed by practical exercises consisting of: -Conception of 3D parts by the students; - Analysis of the machinability of the parts by software; -Generation of machine code in dedicated CAM software; -Fabrication by subtractive digital manufacturing including a 3 axis CNC, a 5 axis CNC, a water jet cutter and a CNC mill; -Fabrication by additive digital manufacturing including a 3D polymer printer, a 3D metal printer and a stereolithography 3D printer. -Explanation of the subject of Factories of the Future, followed by practical exercises on how these factories could operate in different scenarios. -Explanation of the subject of applications of digital manufacturing, followed by practical exercises on choosing the best manufacturingprocess depending on the task of the fabricated part. Evaluation test: 0 – 12 val; Practical exercises: 0 – 8 val; Minimum attendance: 90%.
