Encontra-se aberto concurso para atribuição de uma Bolsa de Investigação no âmbito do projeto PTDC/EME/-TME 114703/2009 designado por «FSW, optimization and joint strength prediction based on the Taguchi and Artificial Neural Network methods», financiado pela Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia.

Duração de seis meses, eventualmente renovável até final do projeto, com inicio previsto para abril de 2012 em regime de exclusividade, conforme regulamento de formação avançada de recursos humanos da FCT em vigor e, regulamento de bolsas do INEGI.
- Descrição sumária do Projeto
This project goal is the optimization of an emergent welding technique (Friction Stir Welding(FSW)) that is currently being used, among others, in aeronautic and railway industries. The Taguchi method and/or Artificial Neural networks (ANN) will be used for the process optimization. The expected final result is the development of a numerical tool to aid on the determination of the adequate welding parameters.

- Objecto de Atividade do Bolseiro
Accordingly to the main goals of the project, the researcher will develop numerical/experimental studies for the mechanical characterization of friction stir welded joints. The researcher will be engaged on the development of new welding tools, definition of welding parameters, and the supervision of the welding trials. He will be also in charge of welded joints mechanical testing.
