Job summary:
The Instituto de Medicina Molecular (IMM) is a leading Portuguese research institute in Biomedicine, which aims to improve health care delivery through the promotion of basic, translational and clinical research. Excellency in disease and patient oriented research are at the basis of IMM strategic goals. For this reason, the IMM integrates the Lisbon Academic Medical Centre, together with the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Lisbon and the Santa Maria Hospital (all located within the same campus). IMM ‘s success relies on its researchers and facilities as well as on intangible factors such as freedom to pursue new ideas, open discussion of the problems, and a friendly atmosphere, where everybody, from the young PhD student to the most senior scientist, feels comfortable and happy to work. IMM is strongly dedicated to science education and research training, namely of Medical Doctors.
We are seeking a science manager, with a PhD degree, to manage the IMM’s Advanced Training Program. He/she will be responsible for the management of the educational programmes’ activities, interaction with partners and other stakeholders and coaching students during their application and training.
Work plan and objectives
• Management of Advanced Training programs that IMM coordinates or co-organizes (Doctoral Programme of the Academic Medical Center of Lisbon; Masters in Oncobiology, others that may be created);
• Organization of advanced training courses;
• Applications for funding opportunities for the IMM´s Advanced Training activities and projects;
• Dissemination of IMM´s Advanced Training programs and opportunities;
• Supporting candidates and trainees at IMM;
• Supporting applications from researchers to training grants;
• Coordinating the activities of students.
Preferred qualifications
• PhD in scientific area, preferentially related to biomedicine;
• Experience and / or vocation in the areas of education and training;
• Good management and organization skills;
• Excellent knowledge of English;
• Excellent communication skills, verbal and written.
