ISPUP | Opportunity for a research scholarship

A research scholarship is available at the Institute of Public Health University of Porto within the scientific research project entitled “Bone status and bone dynamics in childhood: do longitudinal changes in body size make a difference? (Funded by the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology FCOMP-01-0124-FEDER-027746, Ref. FCT EXPL/DTP-EPI/0280/2012)”.
Activities: The scholarship recipient will collect and analyze health data and write scientific papers.  The scholarship will have a duration of 12 months. Financial aspects are outlined in the budget allowance of the project, which assigns a stipend of 980 euros per month.

Academic and professional requirements: Applicants must hold a Masters degree in health sciences and should have had previous training in epidemiology (equivalent to at least 3 ECTS). Training in rheumatology and/or endocrinology will be an asset. Professional experience in scientific research will be strongly valued, particularly if involving data collection in human populations and statistical data analysis. Scientific publications as abstracts or full papers will also be valued. Proven ability to work independently and to quickly adapt to new scientific environments are essential for this position. Good communicative skills to successfully collaborate with the other members of the group, and a good knowledge of both oral and written English are required.

A cover letter is essential, and should focus: 1) motivation for working on scientific research; 2) reasons for choosing ISPUP as the host institution; 3) academic, professional and personal characteristics that make the candidate particularly suitable for the position.
The selected candidate will join the Institute of Public Health University of Porto in Porto, Portugal and will work in collaboration Prof. Raquel Lucas Calado Ferreira and all members of the scientific unit Musculoskeletal Epidemiology.
