The Cloud Computing Competence Centre, based at the University of Beira Interior, Covilhã (Portugal), is offering a fellowship for a researcher holding a master degree, for up to 24 months and 1500 euros/month, to support R&D activities in the field of health sciences in close collaboration with CICS-UBI.
We welcome candidates from the Computer sciences field who have basic knowledge in molecular biology, and candidates from the Biological sciences field who have basic knowledge of bioinformatics.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on multi-disciplinary projects involving omics data, including genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics and metabolomics. The candidate will be responsible for providing bioinformatics support including data management and analysis of high throughput sequencing data from next-generation sequencing. The successful candidate will have the opportunity, if desired, to carry out wet lab work.

Admission requirements: The candidates should have a Master of Science (MSc) degree in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Computer Sciences, Biomedical Sciences or a related discipline. Special relevance will be given to the candidates from the Computer science field who have basic knowledge in molecular biology, and candidates from the Biological sciences field who have basic knowledge of bioinformatics. Preference will be given to candidates with a combination of the following skills: bioinformatics, biostatistics, programming, basic molecular biology, database management, data mining and machine learning, communication and fluency in English.
