- Acquire basic notions of Geriatrics to understand different aspects of the aging process. - Know the normal changes in vision related to aging. - Know the anomalies of visual function, techniques and assessment tests aimed at the geriatric patient. - Know the most common ocular pathologies in the elderly. - Know the most common systemic pathologies that affect the visual system, with special emphasis on the elderly. - Know the characteristics, evaluate, calculate and advise the low vision patient in the selection of optical aids. - Know aspects of communication in the context of health and adherence to recommendations or treatment, the psychological effects resulting from aging and low vision.
