Learning outcomes Addressing the general foundations of Cultural Anthropology (history, object of study, theories, methodology, concepts) and its application in the analysis of primitive and contemporary societies; interdisciplinary dialogues with other sciences, social and biological; develop in the student the capacity for observation and critical analysis of different societies and cultures, from an interdisciplinary perspective.
Syllabus Module 1. Anthropology: an overview
1.1 History: from the narrative of the exotic to the ethnology/anthropology.
1.2 Object of study and its branches (physical/biological and cultural/social).
1.3 Methods and Techniques
Module 2. Nature and Culture
2.1 Human evolution: biological and cultural aspects.
2.2 The body as biological and cultural support
Module 3. Anthropological Schools and theoretical currents
3.1 Evolutionism, Structuralism and Functionalism

Teaching Methodologies and Assessment Criteria There are two types of class sessions: a) lectures, with opportunity for debate; b) practical classes or tutorials, in which the activity and the contribution of the students is of major importance and for which they prepare texts or view audiovisual material. The students must compose written assignments (individually and in group) under the supervision of the lecturer.
The data-shows, the texts written by the lecturer, reading suggestions, websites and other other documents are available on the site Moodle (e-learning).
