Learning outcomes The general objective of this CU is to enable the student to understand the conceptual and operational framework of Biomechanics within the scope of Sports Sciences, privileging the development of knowledge and skills for the analysis of human movement, based on a critical attitude in the observation, analysis and correction of motor patterns within the scope of exercise, sporting activity and the promotion of health and quality of life. In this context, the student must: 1) Understand the historical and conceptual framework of Biomechanics; 2) Understand the importance of Biomechanics within the scope of a Sports Science 1st cycle; 3) Understand and be able to use fundamental principles, concepts and terminology within the scope of Biomechanics; 4) Understand and be able to use methodologies, techniques and instrumentation specific to Biomechanics; 5) Be able to perform Biomechanical analyzes of human movement.
Syllabus 1. Conceptual framework of Biomechanics, its evolution and importance 2. Terminology, organization of mechanics and mechanical quantities 3. Linear Kinematics 4. Linear Kinetics - Concept of force, types of forces and Newton's Laws 5. Work, power and energy 6. Angular kinematics 7. Angular kinetics 8. Stability and center of gravity (CG) 9. Fluid mechanics
