Scientific Area: Electrical Engineering.
Required education level and research experience: The candidate should have a Master degree or equivalent (300 ECTS) in Electrical Engineering and expertise in the areas of sustainable/renewable energy and/or electricity markets and/or smart grids, having also at least 5 IEEE/Elsevier Q1 journal papers already published or accepted for publication.
Objectives/summary: The project studies the evolution of power systems, by designing the future scenarios and operational alternatives that form the basis of the advances needed to meet the future challenges. It is also focuses on end-users both on the perspective of exploiting energy usage behaviors and technological energy management solutions. The goal of the work associated with this grant is related to a comprehensive survey of utility scale electrical energy storage systems.
Scientific supervision: The work will be supervised by Prof. Dr. João Paulo da Silva Catalão and Prof. Dr. João Carlos de Oliveira Matias, Senior Researchers of C-MAST/UBI.
Duration: 6 months from May 2017 onwards.
