Scientific Area: Electrical Engineering: Required education level and research experience: The candidate should have a PhD degree in Electrical Engineering, and proved experience in the areas of sustainable/renewable energy, and/or smart grids, and/or planning of distribution systems, having also at least 5 IEEE/Elsevier Q1 Journals papers already published.
Objectives/summary: The project study the evolution of power systems, by designing the future scenarios and operational alternatives that form the basis of the advances needed to meet the future challenges identified. It is also focuses on end-users both on the perspective of exploiting energy usage behaviors and technological energy management solutions. The areas addressed include grid applications for optimized operation and improved system resiliency when facing extreme scenarios. The goal of the work associated with this grants is to provide innovative contributions in previous described fields, by developing new methodologies/strategies and/or software tools covering the technical and restriction aspect of power systems.
Scientific supervision: The work will be scientifically supervised by Prof. Dr. João Paulo da Silva Catalão and Prof. Dr. João Carlos de Oliveira Matias, Senior Researchers of C-MAST/UBI.
Duration: 8 months from November 2017, renewable until 19 months.
